#My500Words: Day 12 of 31 "New York City, I Love You"

I really miss New York.

"There's an inherent energy in New York city that it's famous for. It makes you want to get up and do a million things all day and stay up all night".

New York City, I love you. From your building's that reach for the heavens. To your subway tunnel's where no one mingles and everyone is in a hurry to get to their destination. You captivate the human imagination. You make anything possible; there are no limits when you're in New York. You are a boundless city with magnetizing energy. As you produce a transformative living experience for all your inhabitants.

Your boroughs are each unique in their own right. In Manhattan you'll find finance bro's on Wall St. but go uptown and you'll land in a cultural mecca. A neighborhood so historical it even had its own renaissance. Go over to Brooklyn and you'll find love in all forms. From the Hipsters, Caribbean's, and Hasidic Jew's. The Bronx, with its majority Puerto Rican residences, was once burning in the 70's but it's now an integral part of your liberty. Staten Island is the land of Shaolin were Wu-Tang once staked its home, but also where Eric Garner would be murdered #ICantBreath. Then there's Queens, which sits next to Kings County and often overlooked in its shadow.

New York City, you were amazing to me. The endless memories, the late nights, and the everything. To be truthful, I don't know where I would be without the experiences that you gave me. You grew me and elevated me. I went to you searching for something, something better, and something greater than what I already had. I went searching and you told me to stop searching. You told me that I already have everything that I need. New york city, you are a blessing.

You are a city of abundance and wealth, inspiring in itself. People visit you to start over and recreate themselves. People visit you because they are looking to not only be challenged but also to compete against the best. Out of all the cities in the country, it is you that is the destination for the doers; thrill seekers, dreamers, and go-getters. You attract the cream of the crop, which generates a breeding ground for greatness. Your city limits is a like a modern Darwin experiment, survival of the fittest. Only the strong survive in New York.

New York City, you were my dream city ever since high school. Even at the age of 16 I just knew deep down that there was a piece of you inside of me. I just needed to be in New York and ten years later we divorced. Your energy is riveting and contagious and like a magnet, it drew me in. Once it takes over your soul there is no going back to whatever you knew before. Your reality begins to change.

New York City, you are a creator of the real. You can't bullshit a New Yorker because a New Yorker is bred by a city that only knows authenticity.  New York f*cking city, I finally made it to you and we had a good relationship. A relationship that was very love and hate, especially in the moment. But it was a relationship that was a very necessary relationship. You see, looking back it, I didn't really hate you towards the end of it. The hate was just my reasoning to push away whatever you were trying to teach me. I am now mindful of your lessons, as they are now intrinsically a part of my being. Don't worry, I'll be back to you.
